In anticipation of Afghan democratic elections in 2016, Lapis produced a TV debate show where young Afghans competed in a mock presidential election. The aim was to help young Afghans understand democratic processes better and encourage electoral engagement.
The primary audience was 18–25-year-old and secondary school students. The Debates involved 6 teams of 3 people who debated about various topics related to democracy and governance. They competed before a panel of judges and the audience voted to eliminate some contestants and produce an eventual winner.
