Research Officer/Assistant

LAPIS is looking for a Research Officer/Assistant with background in Environmental/Climate Change topics and a strong command over the English and Arabic languages. The project consists of researching, conducting interviews and executing trainings in Jordan.

Job Description:

  • Identify existing national curriculums in the MENA region and preliminary categories for developing the training curriculum in climate change.
  • Interview target KIIs and climate change relevant parties using qualitative methods in Arabic.
  • Identify key entities whose employees require basic climate change knowledge for consultations.
  • Conduct workshops/trainings and facilitate them in Jordan.
  • Develop brief workshop/trainings reports containing disaggregated attendance sheets, concept notes, and summaries of pre/post-test results.
  • Any other support tasks needed for the project.

Skills/Knowledge required:

  • Bilingual – English/Arabic (native)
  • Experience conducting qualitative interviews.
  • Some knowledge/experience working with environmental/climate change topics (familiarity with relevant vocabulary).
  • Experience working with the civil servants/government.
  • Experience facilitating seminars/workshops.
  • Strong time-management, communication skills and attention to detail.

This opportunity is a short-term consultancy contract starting in June and ending by September 2024; the estimated workload is 15 Working days in total, broken down in between tasks across the duration of the project. The applicant is required to be in Jordan and available to start working on the project immediately.
