POLIO ERADICATION EDUTAINMENT CAMPAIGN

Educating the public about the importance of the polio vaccine

Lapis has collaborated with UNICEF in Afghanistan to combat polio by dispelling vaccine myths and educating the public about the importance of the polio vaccine. Their comprehensive communication strategy aimed to reach a wide audience through TV, radio, and digital media channels. To achieve this, Lapis developed a set of strategic messages and implemented them into popular TV and radio shows using an Edutainment approach. Over 50 popular TV and radio shows, including comedy shows, singing competitions, morning shows, political programs, and debate shows, incorporated these creative concepts to raise awareness about polio vaccination.
Furthermore, Lapis organized four Polio Special Townhalls on TOLOnews and Shamshad TV, where panels consisting of experts and community leaders discussed the strategy for eliminating polio in Afghanistan.
To amplify their message, Lapis created 5 polio episodic radio dramas, 8 TV public service announcements (PSAs), and 8 radio PSAs. They also devised a social media plan and produced engaging content for a one-year digital campaign. The campaign’s innovative content was shared on popular Facebook pages, including TOLO TV, TOLOnews, Shamshad TV, and Arian News.
