Alex is an experienced organizational leader and senior policymaker with a successful track record building and managing organizations and diverse global teams. As a senior US official, he managed operations of 1000+ staff with over $10 billion in programs with significant security and political complexity. He coordinated policy across the US government and international partners on key policy priorities including: sustainable development; technology and innovation; climate change and renewable energy investment, gender equality and economic empowerment, regional economic integration, development finance, and democracy and governance. He chaired the U.S.-E.U. Development Dialogue and the US-China Development Dialogue from 2013 to 2015. He was also CEO of a preeminent global think tank in Europe with programs and over 500 staff, fellows, and associates in 40 countries, and CEO of a global antitrafficking fund. He has played a leadership role in creating and rolling out several multibillion-dollar international funds and initiatives. In each of these roles he oversaw large scale communications teams and portfolios, directly the design and implementation of public campaigns and appearing on many major global media outlets and at major international forums.
